Energy News: Nansulate® is mentioned in the new report by the UK's Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra). Under this study, five nanotechnological applications were subject to detailed investigation: fuel additives, photovoltaics (solar cells), the hydrogen economy, electricity storage and insulation. In these areas, nanotechnology could contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by up to 2 % in the near term and up to 20 % by 2050 with similar reductions in air pollution being realised. You can read their report, "Environmentally Beneficial Nanotechnologies: Barriers and Opportunities" on the DEFRA website.

Reference for Class I listing: http://www.epa.gov/ozone/ods.html Reference for Class II listing: http://www.epa.gov/ozone/ods2.html GWPs for selected non-ozone-depleting substances listing: Based upon the information from the US Environmental Protection Agency listed at the above links, Our products do not contain negative Global Warming Potential (GWP) or Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) ingredients. Nansulate® coatings are water-based, non-toxic, and low VOC.
Reducing Your Carbon Footprint - How Can Nansulate Help? If you haven't yet heard the term 'carbon footprint' you most likely will very soon. Airlines already offer an add-on to tickets allowing customers the choice to offset their carbon emissions (carbon footprint), and if you do a web search on the term you will find many organizations that offer calculators and other tools for you to calculate your carbon footprint. Carbon footprint is basically a term that refers to the amount of carbon emissions you use in your daily life. The gas used in driving your car creates x amount of carbon emissions, and the electricity that you use in your home creates x amount of carbon emissions. By insulating areas of your home - walls, ceilings, attic, water pipes, hot water heaters, basements, etc... - with Nansulate® coatings you can reduce the amount of energy you use. This in turn reduces the amount of energy needed by your local power grid, which results in less carbon emissions. Simply put: An example of how Nansulate reduced one household's carbon emissions Connecticut Home Example - Heating Oil Use in Gallons:
This equated to a savings of 41% in heating oil use, a dollar savings of approximately $665.56 per year, and reduction of 6,317 lbs. carbon emissions from heating. Companies wishing to learn how Nansulate® can help them on a larger scale can read our primer on How Nansulate Can Help Earn Carbon Credits.
